Objective:
The study interventions entailed training community health workers (CHWs) on the classification of acute infections according to the WHO algorithm, identification of danger signs, and home case management of pneumonia with oral amoxicillin. CHWs were steadily supplied with essential iCCM commodities and closely supervised to assess the impact of the intervention on service delivery for pneumonia, malaria, and diarrhea among children under 5 years in Homa Bay County, Kenya.
We are carrying out a research on integrated community case management (ICCM) of children under 5 years with pneumonia, diarrhea and Malaria in Kenya.
The study intervention entails training of CHWs on classification of acute infections according to WHO algorithm identification of danger signs and home case management of pneumonia with oral amoxicillin.
Afterwards, they will be steadily supplied with essential commodities fo iCCM and closely supervised to assess the impact of the intervention on service delivery by CHWs to their communities.
